Educational Pod

During these unprecedented times, L&S had the privilege of creating and leading out a year long, educational pod. This pod was a unique and unforgettable experience, one that will forever be cherished!

As schools open and families continue to navigate the best educational experience for their child, L&S is taking inquiries from families who are interested in participating in an educational pod in upcoming school years.

Sarah and Leyla saved us.

When Covid hit, I had no idea what I could do for my soon to be 10-year-old son. Online learning did not work for him and often left us frustrated and upset, and I was in a panic not knowing how I was going to actually educate my child in the middle of a worldwide pandemic.

What Sarah and Leyla offered was a respite; they are two educators who are not only excellent in providing an age-appropriate curriculum to my son, but they helped manage his socio-emotional growth as well. I cannot tell you how valuable this experience was for my family. My son has grown exponentially and has the confidence to go back into his school environment.

These women have left an indelible mark on our lives and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity we had during this year. In fact, once school resumes for my LAUSD children, I will be using Leyla and Sarah to help supplement their education. We are so grateful we found these intelligent, attuned, and caring women to help us make it through!

L&S worked with students on core academic skills.

L&S worked with students on core academic skills (math, english language arts, science, and social studies) using California’s common core standards, supplementary curriculum, project-based learning and activities that are highly motivating.

L&S created a diverse and inclusive environment that highlighted each child’s individual differences.

L&S created a safe, engaging learning environment where students celebrated and acknowledged one another’s strengths and encouraged one another to take chances and make mistakes. L&S differentiated curriculum by tailoring academics to individual student profiles, interests and various modalities of learning.

L&S focused on social justice issues.

L&S used a variety of engaging and enriching resources to help students learn about social justice issues.  L&S lead out community circles discussing current events, participated in educational activities using Little Justice Leaders curriculum, and read a series of books which highlighted social justice issues and promoted deep, thought provoking conversations.

“It's impossible to underestimate how valuable L&S was to my son's learning during a year of COVID restrictions. Leyla and Sarah not only kept and increased his aptitude at grade level, they also fundamentally gave him a new enthusiasm for learning. They balanced solid standards of reading, math, science, and social studies with novel projects and playful education. And above all else, their warmth, empathy and intuition about each student's individual need for growth brought about a great spirit of partnership between students, generating an enriched and loving, learning environment."
